Stephan Potts began independent practice after over seven years experience in architectural practice and construction administration at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, and Woodcock Design, both in Philadelphia, before later cofounding Stanev Potts Architects with Petra Stanev. He is a licensed architect in the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts and in the states of New York and Connecticut. He received his Masters Degree from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Design of the Environment.
Mr. Potts has been involved in all phases of design, documentation, management and construction administration of projects ranging from residential additions to $100M university, public and private projects. He is also assists several local institutions with pro bono design consulting, such as the Palumbo Recreation Center, the local Planned Parenthood health clinic, and the Santore Branch of the Philadelphia Free Library.
An interest in the intersections between architecture, sculpture, industrial design and interactive media have been explored through a variety of means, including sculptural apprenticeships in Italy, successful grant writing for applied research grants in cross disciplinary design media, to paneling on the inaugural Global Creative Economic Summit, in 2006.
A parallel interest in music is satisfied through singing with the Philadelphia Singers, the resident chorus of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He is also a member of the Savoy, the oldest amateur Gilbert & Sullivan Troupe in the country.
